Who they are, what they think and what they do in life

Lars & Kjersti Ole Allum from Norway

"We are a family of 4. My wife Kjersti, our kids Jacob 8 years og Solveig 4 years old and my name is Lars. Kjersti is physiotherapist by profession, but since 5 years she built a very sucessful  company in the fashion jewleries business. I am also an entrepenur running a telecom company. We live in cold Norway. Like all Norwegian we love the winter and cross country skiing, but we also like very mcuh the warm weather that beatiful Sicily offers. An the warm and lovely picture of Sicily that we saw, was why we decided to go there to get married last summer. We brought our very good friends with us. And with the great help from Rita at Discover Sicily, we got an excellent house and a very romantic wedding in Palermo. Rita organized everything perfect for us. She was even our translator during our wedding. This is what I call service at a very high level. We are forever grateful to Rita and Sicily will always be a very special place for us"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Il Ferrarolo. Location was very good with short distance drive to nearby beaches and cities like St Agata, Cefalù, Capo d'Orlando etc. The house was very nice, not too modern, but very stylish and practical. The garden with all the nice fruits and vegetables we could pick was very exotic and good- Also the owners took very good care of us, and we recomend the cooking class with the owners:) Last I like to mention the spectacular view from the house and the superb service of Discover Sicily. We like to salute and credit Rita at Discover Sicily for her excellent and warm service. We will surely contact her for our next stay at Sicily.

Lars & Kjersti Ole Allum  stayed a Il Ferrarolo dal 23 luglio al al 26 Agosto 2011

Pierre Gaborit from Paris

"I'm a professor at the university and a lawyer in Paris.  My wife worked as director in a French public institution as responsible for foreign trade.
Last year, together with our children and my son-in-law, we rented villa Cicas for 3 weeks and we had a great time, so that this year we decided to return to Sicily for a 3 week holiday at Villa Cicas. The property is very nice and cosy and it is located in a quiet and green area. It is also a good base to visit Sicily, last year we were in Segesta and Erice and we're going to see many other beautiful places next summer! See you soon and thanks
."

Pierre Gaborit stayed at Cicas from 23rd July to 13th August 2011

Phil Winegarner from Stockolm

Phil Winegarner is a nice 60 year old guy involved in helping children through Unicef.  25 years ago, in the fall of 1986, Phil was the American runner in the First Earth Run – a global torch relay celebrating UNICEF’s 40th anniversary and 1986 as UN’s International Year of Peace.  UNICEF is now 65 years old – but this is not the time for any retirement celebrations! Rather it is time to increase the work of making sure all children are nurtured and educated. So Phil and his wife Stina had an  Open House Celebrating Phil’s 60th and UNICEF’s 65th at their place in Stockholm last October.
Phil and Stina believe that solving the problems of the world starts when we nurture and educate our young – Every 1 of them! Phil and his family stayed at villa Azucena 1 week in September 2011. Phil wrote us a very nice feedback, we want to share: "It wasn't the incredible weather we had, which helped. It was the villa and its surroundings, and the food,  and the help we got from Massimo and the bus for the Modica tour. It was all just perfect. Thanks for the tips on the cake - the 'OMG' (oh my god!) experience of eating it still comes up at dinners all over Stockholm. And finally, I want to thank you, from all of us, for sharing your piece of paradise. And what a piece it is. Here is a couple of fun shots. I am sure you get many from your varied guests. All the best, Phil"

Phil Winegarner stayed at Azucena from 10th to 17 th September 2011

Lyran and Elana, from Milano

I am a Real Estate Investor in commercial real estate and Elena is a lab manager at a pharmaceutical drug development company. This was our first time booking with Discover Sicily and we had a great experience from the beginning to the end.
My wife and I and our one year old baby just came back from a wonderful 7-day stay at Casa dell'Acqua. We had a really great time and enjoyed very much the beautiful villa which is situated in the heart of an agricultural area which is just minutes away from several beautiful beaches. The villa is surrounded by fields of fruit trees and vegetable plants, and when relaxing by the beautiful pool (which is new and was only recently completed) you feel in the middle of nature with lots of privacy and this crates a really peaceful vacation experience. The family that owns the villa was extremely hospitable and were always around whenever we needed something or wanted a recommendation to a nearby restaurant. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and were very generous with us (we even got to enjoy some of the fruit and vegetables that are now in season). The villa is very well equipped with anything we needed for us and our baby. We split our time between the wonderful pool and the nearby beach of Gorgo Lungo (only 10 min away by car), where the owner reserved for us in advance great places in the front row by the sea. We had an amazing experience at Casa dell'Acqua and would highly recommend it to anyone.
We also had a really great experience booking the property through Rita at Discover Sicily. Rita was very kind and helpful and went above and beyond answering all our questions, assisting us with arrangements for our baby, and by giving us lots of great recommendations of things to see and do in Sicily. Thanks for everything.

Lyran and Elana stayed at Casa dell'acqua from 21th to 28th August 2010

Back from Sicily and to the office :-(((, I just give you a short feedback about our trip: kind welcome and pleasant staff, quiet and restful place. Gratteri is a very typical and authentic Sicilian village, almost without tourists, exception made of those from the only hotel ! There, as we like to really discover local life, traditions and mentality, we ate every evening in another restaurants of the village. We should be the only tourists in the dining rooms, absolutely lovely !
In short, we really loved both places, as they are small hotels - let's say high-quality "guest-house" oriented - and above all not in too much touristic places.
So, many thanks again for your very good and professionnal organisation and services. I wish you a very nice and pleasant summer, and do not hesitate to recommand those two addresses to your next customers !

Alain stayed at  Belli Resort and Cambio Cavallo in June 2010

Eva Armisén from Barcelona, Spain.

In my world everything exists because I painted it. For me this is the magic of my work.
The possibility of changing things, making small things enormous and big ones disappear. Irony is also important in my work. I look for inspiration in daily basis, in a way is to put a lens on the things we have so near than sometimes we don't valuate them and they are the most important  ones in our lives. In my paintings ordinary rituals appear extraordinary.
Traveling is also an important part in my work. Since I have to travel a lot for my work I love to choose the place for my holidays. I found discover-Sicily and I spent with them one of my best holidays.

Philippe ALLIET from Bihorel, France.

Veterinary surgeon, occuped all the year by an intensive job, I become, artist – painter the evening and the week-end.
During summer 2009, I've found in Palermo a little area of paradise: «
La Casina », pretty hiring, ideal and comfortable for a family, easy for visiting Palermo and its surroundings. The hosts, and more particularly Mrs Mancuso were charming and attentive. So, I could find in this place calm, rest, and also pictorial inspiration of which herewith you can see one examples...

Christiane + Robert, Vienna

We have booked two times with Discover Sicily and we would do so again! Both  times, the properties were as beautiful and well equipped as   described on the discover-sicily-website, and both times, we have been positively surprised with exceptional hospitality and friendliness on the part of the house-owners. We have fortunately decided for properties, which had an additional restaurant-service, we also enjoyed the wonderful homemade food, always with fresh products of their own farming, cooked with passion. On the part of the agency, everything was well organized, well   prepared and easy. and thanks to helpful and flexible Rita, also special wishes and requests were no problem.
Christiane & Robert stayed at L'Ulivo from 4th to 11th July 2009

Pirita, Web Editor, Finlandia

Hi Rita, Sorry that it took me some days to get back to you; I have been busy at work after our vacation... Thanks for asking and yes, we enjoyed our vacation a lot. Baglio Ferrando was more than we expected - we hadn't actually understood how huge the house is. It was very exciting for both to us adults and to kids to sleep there overnight and to envisage the generations that have lived on the house hundreds of years ago. Silvia was were helpful to us and made our life very smooth and easy.  What comes to Sicily itself: the nature was absolutely stunning. We enjoyed the views very much. We visited Etna and the motorway from the cost to the inland went through the most spectacular places. I also think that the
mountains and fields around Corleone were the most beautiful ones we saw. Maybe it was because of the heavy rains on the area that everything was so green and fresh. We did see all that rubbish along the roads also and the houses that should be renovated now and not later but they did not bother us: what was best in Sicily that it didn't try to pretend to be something else that it is. We felt that not much was done just for tourist's eyes and that is what we liked a lot. If we ever come to Sicily again I am happy to turn back to you and if any of
our friends or relatives are planning a visit I will definitely recommend your services.

Pirita stayed at Baglio Ferrando from 10th al 16th October 2009
